Baldric


Description
The field color on the baldric is dark blue The designation "35TH" "INFANTRY" "DIVISION" in dark blue letters is shown on a white scroll, doubled red, at the top of the baldric; the image of a white Sante Fe cross, on a blue background, edged white. Displayed below, eight yellow diagonal bars, the first bar inscribed "MEUSE-ARGONE" and the fourth "NORMANDY". The fringe is trimmed in the middle with red piping.

Symbolism

The Santa Fe cross was a symbol used to markthe old Santa Fe trail, an area where the unit trained, and was officiallydesignated as an identifying device for the unit by Headquarters, 35th DivisionGeneral Orders Number 25, dated March 27, 1918. The organization is referred to as the Santa Fe Division. The bluenonagonal shape at the base of the mace indicates that the 35th is an InfantryDivision composed of nine regiments. Theprairie schooner drawn by the oxen symbolizes the fact that all of the greattrails to Oregon, California and Mexico either started from, or passed through,the states to which the 35th was formerly allotted.



Background
The band regalia were authorized on 25 September 1991.
